BARAN DORUK ŞİMŞEK WINS GOLD AND SILVER MEDALS AT WORLD SERIES
Baran Doruk Şimşek, an athlete of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, made both his club and Türkiye proud with his achievements at an international swimming event held in Italy.
Competing at the Para Swimming World Series held in Lignano Sabbiadoro between 9-15 March 2026, Şimşek delivered an outstanding performance in the Men's 50m Backstroke Open Age final, finishing with a time of 37.11 seconds. With this result, he secured the gold medal in the Junior Men's category and the silver medal in the Open Age category.
Şimşek also demonstrated a strong performance in the 50m Butterfly final. With a time of 36.54 seconds, he placed second in the Junior Men's category, earning another silver medal and completing the competition with notable results in two different styles.
The successful swimmer also surpassed the Olympic qualifying standard in the 200m Freestyle with a time of 2:49, and placed fourth in the Open Age category in the 200m Individual Medley with a time of 3:17.
Mayor of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, Ayşe Ünlüce, congratulated the athlete on his achievements. "I sincerely congratulate our athlete Baran Doruk Şimşek and his coach for representing our city successfully on the international stage and winning gold and silver medals. I believe our young athlete will continue to achieve even greater success," she said.
