Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality has equipped its municipal police teams with electric bicycles for environmentally friendly and rapid transportation. The new teams will be deployed primarily on pedestrian paths, parks, and bicycle paths. Metropolitan Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce emphasized that this initiative will both encourage urban cycling and contribute to the vision of sustainable urban development.
The Metropolitan Municipality Municipal Police Department has added another environmentally friendly transportation solution to its portfolio, launching fully equipped police teams equipped with electric bicycles. Mayor Ünlüce wished the new team success, saying, "Our work on bicycle paths continues to promote the use of bicycles, which hold a significant place in the city's memory, as a preferred form of urban transportation. As an institution, we are actively using bicycles in our fieldwork. In this context, our municipal police department's bicycle team has begun operating to maintain order and respond promptly to the needs of our citizens."
Melek Ceviz, Head of the Metropolitan Municipality Municipal Police Department, said, "Our bicycle police teams will provide faster and more effective service, especially in areas closed to vehicle traffic, parks, bike paths, and busy pedestrian areas. With this initiative, which supports environmentally friendly transportation, we aim to both reduce our carbon footprint and establish a closer and more accessible relationship with our citizens. Our bicycle police officers, who have completed their training, will be fully equipped on specially designed electric bicycles and actively participate in field inspections."
Ceviz continued:
"We see this step not only as a transportation choice, but also as part of a vision that supports Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce and our institution's understanding of healthy living and sustainable urban planning."
Providing information about the bicycle police teams' technical equipment, Police Commissioner Evren Mutlu said, "We will continue our inspections with the electric bicycles we have added to our municipal police fleet, fully equipped with helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, rearview mirrors, and a tool kit, considering riding safety."
