The Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Fairy Tale Castle organized the "A Slice of Fairy Tale: Küllüoba" workshop as part of its summer activities, taking children ages 6-8 on a creative and entertaining journey into the ancient culture of Anatolia.
The Metropolitan Municipality Fairy Tale Castle organized a jeux dramatiques (expressive play) workshop titled "A Slice of Fairy Tale: Küllüoba." As part of the summer activities, children ages 6-8 embarked on a journey to the ancient land of Küllüoba in Anatolia. On this journey stretching back 5,000 years, the children not only traced the Küllüoba bread but also traced the deep roots of Anatolian culture, mythology, and rituals.
The workshop was conducted through a design-focused process that emphasized creative movements, image-making, and divergent thinking skills. As the children created their own bread stories through rhythm, dance, and ritual practices, this journey, which began with the whispers of Cybele, transformed into a fairytale-like experience. Games were played, physical communication was established, rhythm was maintained, and hands were dusted with flour; the children engaged in a ritual that symbolically shaped their first loaves of bread.
The workshop combined cultural heritage, mythological narratives, and art, creating a multilayered and profound learning environment for the children. The workshop also served the goals of Article 4, "Quality Education," and Article 11, "Sustainable Cities and Communities," of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It not only fostered creativity, image-building, and divergent thinking skills, but also contributed to intergenerational cultural sustainability.
The Metropolitan Municipality Fairy Tale Castle will continue its achievement-focused workshops, which bring together children's cultural values and art, throughout the summer.
