The ETİ Lifalif 6th International Eskişehir Half Marathon and Sports Festival, organized in collaboration with the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality and the Turkish Athletics Federation, once again demonstrated the unifying power of sports. The "Friendship Walk," held as part of the festival, provided participants with both emotional and unforgettable moments.
One of Eskişehir's most important sporting events, the event brought together thousands of sports fans this year at the Sazova Science, Culture, and Art Park. The "Friendship Walk," one of the most meaningful sections of the event, featured individuals with Down syndrome and their families walking together along a 1.5-kilometer track. The walk, which emphasized messages of solidarity, love, and awareness, brought smiles to the faces of participants and hope to their hearts.
After the walk concluded in front of the Fairytale Castle, Eskişehir Metropolitan Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce engaged with each child individually and presented them with their certificates of participation. Mayor Ünlüce thanked everyone who contributed to the event and emphasized the importance of making sports accessible to all ages and individuals, saying, "The most beautiful steps are taken through friendship. With every step we took with our individuals with Down syndrome, we felt love, solidarity, and happiness. The smiles on our faces at the Friendship Walk combined with the hope in our hearts. We will continue to walk together for a more inclusive, happier tomorrow."
The Friendship Walk once again demonstrated both the universal language of sports and the power of social solidarity.
