Cyclists Pedaling for Climate Change Visit Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality to Thank the Municipality
Cycling groups supporting and working to implement the decisions of the 29th United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP29) held last year in Baku, Azerbaijan, visited the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality.
The group, comprised of members of the Zincirkıran Women's Association, Donkişot Bicycle Group, Pedaling Women, Bicycle for All Podcast, and the Beylikdüzü Bicycle and Nature Sports Club Association, visited the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality. The group stated that they were pedaling to implement the decisions made at COP29 to implement climate-friendly transportation policies that prioritize cycling, pedestrians, and public transportation, and to support transportation systems focused not only on cars but also on people and the environment. They said, "We thank the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality for its efforts to support these decisions."
Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Metin Bükülmez and Transportation Department Director Fırat Bilgili hosted cyclists at the municipality and provided information about sustainable transportation projects.
Deputy Secretary General Metin Bükülmez said, As Eskişehir, we aim to be a bicycle-friendly city. In this sense, we are proud to support the goals of the COP29 Bike Ride. Our efforts to develop bicycle paths in our city are ongoing. We want to make bicycles a key factor in urban transportation. We stand with you on this meaningful journey made possible by cycling.
The cycling group, embarking on a world tour ahead of the COP30 Summit in Brazil in November, emphasized that Eskişehir's bicycle path projects are exemplary.
