Opened by Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality on October 23, 2022, the Turkish Bath Museum brings together the past and the future by introducing the deep-rooted bath culture with a rich perspective that appeals to our five senses. The Museum, which was established with the aim of introducing the healing waters of Eskişehir, transferring forgotten traditions to future generations and explaining that the bath is not just a stone, this time brought art lovers together with a unique exhibition.
The opening of the exhibition titled Frigidarium, which was opened to visitors in the Soğukluk (Camekan) section of the museum and is the first art exhibition of the museum, was attended by Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Ali Haydar Çelik, artist and academic Özgür Uğuz and many art lovers.
The originals of Uğuz's works, which are located on wall coverings and digital screens in some areas of the Museum, prepared with watercolor technique, were presented to the appreciation of art lovers with this exhibition.
The artist gave a special name to the exhibition inspired by Eskişehir's location in the Phrygia Salutarisregion and the concept of "Frigidarium", which means coldness area in Roman Bath Architecture terminology. In this respect, the exhibition drew attention to both the historical depth of the region and the cultural heritage through art.
Eskişehir Turkish Bath Museum, which was brought to life as a sustainable cultural heritage project living with the international museum approach, conveys the bathing culture and bath tradition from ancient times to the present to visitors with modern touches.
This special exhibition, which brings together tradition and art, invites culture enthusiasts and art lovers to a historical journey. The works exhibited in the digital and physical areas of the Museum present the traces of the past to its visitors with today's aesthetic language.
